you want for yourself
You’ve heard all of the success stories.
You’re reading this right now because you know that Instagram is a powerful way to grow your business and gain visibility online. But we often bring a lot of baggage to social media and content creation:
Why would anyone want to hear about this from me?
Do I have to show my face?
How do I create videos regularly—without spending an insane amount of money?
What if I don’t know what to post?
Are you sure it’s going to work for a business like mine?
How come what worked for her doesn’t work for me? The good news? I have the answers to all these questions—and I’m here to share them with you.
With more than eight years of experience creating compelling social campaigns, I built a thriving business from scratch on Instagram. Now I’m here to share everything I know about IG…and how to show up with confidence online as an expert, a Latina, a mother, and all the other things that make you, you.
I’m Kar, and my whole job is to help women like you make it happen on Instagram.
If you can believe it (you’re not going to believe it), I started my career as a tax accountant in my home city of Vancouver, Canada. But on a getaway to Puerto Vallarta, I met my husband on the beach…and it wasn’t long before I moved to Berlin to join him.
That’s where I landed my dream job in social media management and marketing for the UN World Food Programme, introducing an app called ShareTheMeal to global audiences.
Along the way, I helped develop viral social media campaigns with partners like Apple, Facebook, and Michael Kors.
A few years later, I had landed what I thought would be another dream job as head of social at a startup in NYC, only to get caught up in the first wave of pandemic layoffs—when I was nine months pregnant.
That’s when I made my pandemic pivot, launching a business as a social media consultant.
I poured myself into creating an Instagram account where I could teach women-owned businesses everything I had learned about marketing. In less than a year, I went from 0 followers to 45K—completely organically.
And those followers translated into something more: in under 10 months, I had a 6+ figure business teaching women how to use Instagram to achieve their most daring goals.
I split my time between NYC and Lisbon, where I live with my husband, my two kids, and the dog you see chasing after me when I’m filming reels.
A few things you should know about me If you’re planning a trip to NYC, I’ll tell you not to miss:
Dinner at Minetta Tavern.
Get a whiskey sour and then split the burger as a starter.
The thing you’ll always find in my suitcase:
Sunscreen—SPF 50, and always the kind that’s coral reef-friendly.
Tourist trap I secretly love: We used to live right next door to Joe’s Pizza in Greenwich Village. Absolute perfection at the end of a night out.
The thing I miss the most about the U.S. when I’m in Portugal:
