I gave myself permission to take the longest vacation of my life this summer. Six weeks in Canada.

Monday was my first day back at my desk.

I managed to only work 1 day to meet with my team in Vancouver, and another day to host a Mastermind dinner (I’ll send another email about that and what’s coming this Winter soon).

What astounded me was that my business continued very much as usual without me…

I had clients inside of The Social Department launching new offers, opening cart to new ones, hosting webinars for the first time and getting coaching every day thanks to my wonderful team Ali, Jennifer, Kathleen and Gayle.

My DFY Social Media Management clients continued to see their content delivered to them one week ahead of schedule for approval, had daily posts going out Monday to Friday and one client even had an open cart for her program.

It worked because of my systems and over a year of fine-tuning my offers to deliver without me.

Being off forced me to trust my team and my systems fully…

Scary I know…

It took my nearly 5 years to get here and I can honestly tell you that letting go of control, letting go of the need to chase the next $10k, $20k, $30k, $40k months has been liberating in ways I didn’t anticipate.

So I wanted to share with you, and also for me, before I forget it all what this time away taught me in the hopes that you reader will also take some glimmers and see what’s possible.

There’s no particular theme. Just thoughts I had mainly while sitting outside in the sun, swimming in glacier lakes, belly laughing and walking in the woods.

1. My business doesn’t need me in the day-to-day to run smoothly or be profitable
2. When I am in nature, I feel less anxious, I sleep better, I have less migraines and I feel more “me”
3. Swimming is the best medicine and I need to do it more
4. I want to start drawing with pastels again and learn how to paint
5. I need a lot less money than I think
6. We have so much more than we could ever need
7. Caring for something, creating something, learning something, growing something and fighting for something are cures for consuming
8. Prioritize the people who love me instead of the ones that don’t
9. My last dream left to chase is a small piece of land, a modest home and days filled with the people I love
10. I am enough

I came back to my desk realizing I don’t need to chase endlessly to prove my worth.

My business is solid, my team is incredible, and my dreams are simple: community, creativity, and a little patch of earth.

Maybe reading this will spark your own version of “enough”. Maybe it will remind you that the work you’re doing now can create space for the life you really want.

At the end of the day, we build these businesses not just to earn more, but to live more.

But here’s the truth that few tell you. This kind of space doesn’t just “happen.”

It comes from systems, messaging, and content that works FOR you even when you’re not online.
