When I first started my business back in January 2021 there were two myths I was telling myself that want you to know now:

I thought it was a flex to do everything myself and keep all of the money I was making.

I thought that hiring people to do what I already knew how to do was a sign of me being lazy.

Neither of these were true, and while sure I did have more income year one and two of my business, I was SO burnt out by the end of year two that I nearly quit when my son was born.

That was also around the time that I decided to stop trying to do everything myself and hire help.

I ended up hiring an OBM on retainer (previously I’d only ever had a VA on and off) and I hired a Social Media Manager to take over for a month while I got my life together.

Balancing my burgeoning online business while also trying to be there for all the newborn moments with my son AND pay as much attention to my two year old daughter at the time AND be a good partner to my husband had so many challenges.

But I can honestly say that when I was able to delegate things off my plate and not worry that I was “giving away my profit”, I all of a sudden opened up so much space not only on my calendar but also in my mind.

I have a small team now that includes 4 people (not including my accountant) and I’ve never made more money. Sure, expenses are higher but my profit is still healthy at way over 50% most months.

It has been so worth it.

Today I spent the morning filming two Reels for an exciting collaboration with a partner that we all know and love (keep an eye out for it this month just before Black Friday!)

I hired someone to help me film and edit the videos even though this is is always something I have done and CAN do myself. Why?

Here’s a little sneak peak of today’s content filming!

Because I knew that I didn’t have the time or it would mean that instead of putting my two kids to bed with Max, I would need to stay in my office editing until midnight. That alone was worth the $400 I spent for help.

So here’s what I want you to ask yourself: What’s the real cost of doing everything alone?

Not just in dollars, but in precious moments missed, in late nights at your desk, in mental bandwidth stretched too thin.

Sometimes the most profitable decision isn’t keeping all the money – it’s investing in support that gives you your life back.

If you’re where I was two years ago, telling yourself those same myths about delegating and hiring help, let’s chat.
