I wanted to share what I think the number one tip I learned at Instagram unfiltered in NYC last week with you because I’ve been testing it out on my own account and it’s been WORKING.

We’ve been constantly told that Reels are the way to grow since 2020 but as you know, I’ve always told you to have a mix.

Reels are not the only way to grow!

And as Meta (aka Instagram) themselves told me on Tuesday, Carousels are the move right now.

What I’m seeing with my own content:

  • Carousel posts are mainly reaching my followers ~80% followers which I see as a good thing! This keeps them nurtured and keeps me top of mind
  • Carousel posts are getting on average more reach than my Reels from the past 14 days!

So here’s what I want you to do (straight from the horses mouth):

  1. Create a carousel where your first slide is a video (like this). In hind sight I should have added some cheeky text on top.
  2. Second and third slides should alternate between photos and videos
  3. Collages and overlays are really popular right now and are such a creative way to tell stories (see mine here for inspo. I created this entirely in Canva)
  4. Add some music to your carousel! It doesn’t have to be trending but it probably doesn’t hurt
I shared this in my Instagram Stories.

I posted my Vlog from the Instagram event today and if you haven’t watched it yet make sure you do! I tried a new visual hook (not relying on the text for the attention grabbing moment) which was not difficult to film.

If you want me to tell you how I did it just let me know in the DMs and I’ll make a tutorial.
